Endocrine Health
Regulating hormones essential for various physiological processes and overall well-being.
The endocrine system works alongside the nervous system, monitored and regulated by the chemical communication network. These chemical messengers called hormones are produced by the endocrine glands that controls and coordinate many bodily functions.
The endocrine system has to be able to maintain homeostasis (balance) in the body, and to regulate processes. Without achieving these crucial functions of communication, one can develop thinning hair, or hair loss, cold feet/hands, fatigue, which can lead to a diagnosis of Hypothyroidism. We will address Hypothyroidism with stress management, sleep management, add probiotics, selenium, get the right diet, to name a few. Adrenal Fatigue can be seen as craving salty or sweet foods, weight gain in especially around the abdomen, feel more awake and energetic after 6pm. We will address getting plenty of rest, moderate exercise, commit to doing less, leave of absence from work or school. Adding magnesium, tulsi tea (holy basil), and more, will work great. Not many practitioners look at Blood sugar as a source for being imbalanced, when it comes to checking all body functions, but we definitely do. If we see low energy, mood swings, increase appetite, headaches, we will suggest constant bedtime by 10pm with at least 8 hours of sleep, manage stress and stressors (external and internal), moderate exercise (not to strenuous). Adding supplements would look like, methylated b-complex, l-glutamine, fermented cod (liver oil). Elimination of gluten and dairy, avoid caffeine and sugar, can eat a small amount of protein just before bedtime to satisfy hunger. Diet rich in natural sources of key nutrients (vitamin E, C, magnesium, zinc).
Testing for Hypothyroidism would be full thyroid panel, IgG food sensitivity testing, salivary hormone panel. We can arrange for testing to be done if necessary. We will treat with food and supplements. Testing for Adrenal Fatigue would be cortisol panel (salvia), IgG food sensitivity test, DUTCH test. We will do testing if needed. We will treat with food and supplements. Testing for Blood Sugar Imbalance would be serum glucose, insulin, HA1C, lipid panel, liver enzymes, CRP, post-prandial and or continuous glucose monitoring. We will test on an as needed basis. Food and supplements will be our focus.
